During WWII Japanese army plundered all occupied territories and had stolen everything what had any value. 

These treasures were taken to Singapore, where was an accountant headquarter to manage all loots. Estimated value was 6000 tonnes of gold, coins, precious metal and diamonds. In 1943 war situation changed and Japanese government decided to move all valuables to Philippines.
Imperial Japanese army general Tomoyuki Yamashita (1885 - 1946) who came to Philippines in 1944 to lead the Japanese defense, managed to hide stolen fortune before his army was defeated and did not reveal the place even when war was over.
Tomoyuki Yamashita (The tiger of Malaya) was found guilty of war crimes and executed by hanging in Manila, 1944. Place of the hidden treasure stays unknown.
